THS in brief

Tekniska Högskolans Studentkår (THS) is KTH’s student union. THS consists of 19 chapters, which are connected to the different educational programs. As a member of THS, you are automatically also a member of one of these chapters, depending on what program you are admitted to.

Each chapter is represented in THS Kårfullmäktige, which is THS’s highest elective body. Kårfullmäktige elects THS’s executive committee (ledningsgruppen) and THS’s board (kårstyrelsen) and decides on the framework and goals for THS’s long-term progress. The executive committee and the board are in charge of the governing the organization towards the goals set by Kårfullmäktige.

In short, THS can be described as a web of chapter-organizations that come together to jointly act on issues and opportunities that each has a stake in.

In addition to educational, social, business and international work, THS’s has a bookstore (THS kårbokhandel) and a cafeteria (THS Café). THS also owns the student union building, Nymble, where you can always find a microwave owen to heat your lunch or a seminar, meeting or party to join. Speaking of houses, THS owns a cabin at Värmdö called Osqvik. As a member of THS you are actually part owner of both Nymble, Osqvik and the bookshop, so make sure you don’t miss out o what they have to offer.

THS also has a large number of independent associations, for instance a chorus and a scuba-diving club.
