SSSB – Housing queue
Since Stockholm has a very difficult housing situation, many young people in Stockholm therefore rely on second hand renting. Renting second hand can be a great way to find accommodation quickly, but it can also be a challenge to find something affordable, safe and lasting. Unfortunately there are people who try to make a profit from the situation by creating false housing ads.
If you have received accommodation through KTH and have any questions, please visit KTH Accommodation.
SSSB is the largest student accommodation landlord in Stockholm. You should register on their housing queue list as soon as possible, since the waiting time is about 200-300 days. They do have last minute deals which are posted on first come-first serve basis. You will need to visit this website every few hours to have a chance on those deals.
Important information:
- It is also important that you are using your KTH email and/or the at SSSB, otherwise your membership may not be recognized.
- You can accumulate up to 90 queue days in SSSB’s housing queue without joining a student union. If you want to accumulate more than 90 days, you have to be course registered at KTH and a student member of THS. This means you cannot collect more than 90 days before starting your studies.
- As a newly admitted student, you may apply for housing with SSSB after August 1st. You have to use your admission letter as proof that you will be studying. The union membership requirement still persists, however, SSSB will not check until later on when the semester has begun. For more information, please read here.
Akademiskkvart is a website containing private housing advertisements aimed at researchers and students. It is a joint effort from the Universities and Student Unions in Stockholm and the city of Stockholm to try to help both Swedish and International students with housing. As getting a room through SSSB before starting your studies is unlikely, considering this or other subletting services as an entry point into the Stockholm housing market might be helpful.
